Deep in the deserts of the Hibana desert lies the Virani faculty, an ancient school, far from civilisation. This place was meant to harness the powers of fire, and mold them into whichever the reign needed; scholars and protectors... or beserkers and oppressors.
Not until recent the name of the faculty was one of a place where terror was made, and it's well known history was seen as an example of why magic should be exterminated.

Now the school lies in the private hands of the Magic Guild, and was redesigned to prove wrong the old prenotions about fire magic. Students now get the chance to fully explore and control their powers, to be send back into the civilised world as protectors and guardians of the common people; of all magicians now perhaps the most effective in keeping the darkness at bay.
Each year great numbers of teenagers enter, from all over the world, some encouraged, some chased away. All looking for a place to understand themselves, which led to the school expanding and growing greatly, and (wether they're allowed or not) a merchant town on the borders of the terrain.
