The year was 3912, and Earth was in upheaval.  There was no middle class, only the 3% of humans that were wealthy and powerful beyond belief (who called themselves "the Elite"), and the rest who had next to nothing.  The Elite resided in enormous compounds with walls 8 meters thick reaching 48 meters high.  This was necessary to keep the unwanted population out of the way.


            After many years,  the impoverished people of the world decided to do something.  They gathered everything they could find to use against the Elite.  Guns, axes, power tools, anything that would cause injury to them.  The result was devastating.


            The Elite didn't know what to do, so they used the weapons that were at their disposal: nuclear bombs.  There were 12 in total.  Each one was used.  Of the world's 8,053,192,039 people, 7 remained;  The world population was now 7.


            No land remained on Earth but for one small island.  Before the Devastation, as it was now referred, this island was part of Alaska.  None of the 7 survivors were of the Elite, but were scientists conducting research in Ketchikan.  They swam to a ship that had been salvaged and headed for the island.


            After a few months, they had built a settlement in the mountains.  They knew they had a huge task ahead of them: they had to rebuild an entire world.  The new world was called Mechanor.  They started with some houses, then a factory, and a clock tower, bridge and windmill.  It began to look like the beginnings of an industrial revolution...
