The Thompson .45 Submachine-Gun was first invented in 1919 by John T. Thompson, following World War One. It was created as a form of automatic rifle without the intricacy of recoil or gas-powered systems, to take over from the standard bolt-action carbines. It was used in service during 1938-1971 throughout World War Two, in northern Africa and the Japanese conflict in the Pacific. Following World War Two, it was still open to civilian use, and is often pictured as a Mafioso's right-hand man. Though that is little to the full story of the Thompson. It became iconic across it's service, winning it's way into the minds of gun-collectors and wannabe-gangsters alike.
