(Continuing on from the introduction in the contest post)
It was... a flying saucer? Or to be accurate, a not-flying saucer, as it was half-buried, sticking out of the sand like a sore thumb. It seemed out of place with the flowing yellow hills of the desert.
He made his way over to the spaceship, half-dragging himself along. Most of it seemed to be made of a jet black metal, cool to the touch. There was a ring of glass surrounding whole thing that seemingly worked as a 360 degree window. It was where this window met the ground that Steve found a small opening.
Careful not to cut himself on the unusually thick glass, he entered the saucer. There was a brick-like purple material on the wall, which would have been the floor had it not crashed into the desert. A strange twisting purple pole ran straight through the centre, somehow holding the thing in one piece.
He noticed a crate of some sort resting on this pole, and determined to satisfy his curiosity, he put the last of his strength towards scaling the metal walls towards it. After a lot of effort and nearly falling, he latched onto the platform with one outstretched hand, and hoisted himself up. On the verge of collapsing, he opened the crate, unbeknownst to the fact that the things inside would change his life forever.

The thing that was inside
It's a bunch of stuff from 1.9. Because 1.9 has landed. Geddit?!
In all seriousness...
Obviously, this is for the Desert Detour Solo Contest. I reeeaaally want to at least get into the finalists this time, so I put as much creativity and awesomeness into this build as is physically possible for me to do. It took me a few hours, including coming up with the idea and working out the size of the circle. That may seem like a reasonable time, but in fact it's incredibly quick for me, because I would usually come up with a good idea, mentally argue over its specifics, and begin building it the day before entries close. I guess I'm really determined to not get last this time round. In the words of Fazbear Incorporated: a little diamond goes a long way!

I updated it again : by yoda473 03/18/2016 10:30:29 pmMar 18th, 2016
I was told there was too much negative space, and one hard look at the build told me they were telling the truth. Added a weird little pointy dropship sort of thing. I don't really know.
