On the 11th hour on the 11th day and the 11th month in the year 1919 the armistice that would end the Great War was signed. Five bloody years of warfare brought to an end at last. Millions of lives lost, thousands more left suffering and permanently afflicted. Starting in 1921 ceremonies were held to commemorate this moment, with nationwide observances of a moment of silence.
Thirty years later the world was at war again, fighting in what has become known as the Second World War. This war ended on September 2, 1945 after 6 bloody years of fighting.
Many wars have taken place since.

It is on this day that we should (dare I say must) take time to remember the sacrifice of the brave men and women who have given their lives for their countries, fighting for our rights and freedoms. They went to war and fought so that we would not have to. So that we can enjoy the life that we do and can live in the countries that we do.
I don't care for your political leanings. Whatever your case, let us remember the sacrifice of the soldiers who gave everything for us.

This map is a recreation of the Vimy Ridge Memorial in France. This memorial was unveiled on July 26, 1936 to memorialize the memory of the battle for Vimy Ridge, a smaller part of the battle of Arras. It was here that the Canadians managed to capture the ridge, marking a major turning point in the military history of the country.

The build also features a bed of poppies behind the memorial. 3,598 of them to be exact, one for every soldier who died during that battle. In addition, the poem "In Flanders Fields" by John McCrae is written into the ground, visible from the air by using a teleport command block.
