I don't practice my castle-building skills enough from start to finish, so I am challenging myself to finish this medieval castle.
This is the super rough-draft version of the castle. I made the map using WorldPainter, and I experimented with MCEdit to create the structures rough shapes. I will go in and update the map to 1.20.1, and hollow out all the structures. Then I will add details! I am excited to finish this project, so follow if you want to see the end result!
UPDATE
I added details to the structures! I messed around with the idea of using light_blue_terracotta for the roofs, but I settled on dark_oak_planks. This build is not finished, not even close! But it is getting there.
UPDATE #2
Holy moly the second update is here! I have finished the servant quarters under the castle, as well as the fighting area/archery range. Trees and shrubs have been added, as well as flowers for color. The interiors of the buildings and the spires have been worked out, although the details inside still need to be sorted. That will be the next update, and possibly the last!
Stick around for the next update!

A few real examples for this:
Oxford - Ox + Ford
Würzburg - Würz(-e) (German for Spice) + Burg (German for Castle)
Strasbourg - Straße (German for Road; the 'ß' is a combine of the two letters 'sz') + Burg
A few of my own fictional names:
Dökkhain - Dökk (Norge for dark) + Hain (a common word in Germanistic languages for woods/forest) - a city inside a forest of same name
Südfurt - Süd (German for South) + Furt (German for Ford) - most southern town of Nordera
Skallhavn - Skull (the English word) + Hafen (German Port, but I changed f->v and removed the e - later I found out that this is also the real Danish way to spell this word...) - a former quasie-pirate port
This is also possible with Latin words but it's harder (at least for me) doing this without a bad sound. In Latin (and most Latin languages) the word endings are often fixed. In Latin for example neutrum words ends on -(i-)um. That is way most ancient cites names ended on them. Londonium as Latin name for London is an example for this. Latin Names are also a good base for the first word in Germanistic Names.
For your castle I would think about somthing ending on stone or hill. I would recommand to check this words in a few Germanic languages.
