Flavius Anastasius Probus, or Anastasios (Ἀναστάσιος) was a Byzantine and Eastern Roman emperor of the 5th and 6th centuries. He was given the epithet of Dicorus or Dikoros (Δίκορος) for having heterochromia which is the condition of having two differently colored pupils. He was known for his reforms in the economy and finances and singlehandedly increased the treasury by reintroducing coin currency and increasing taxes. He unfortunately had miaphysite tendencies, but ended the Acacian schism started by Zeno. The Isaurian war occurred during his reign which involved the supporters of Longinus: Zeno's brother. There were also conflicts with the Sassanids in which Theodosiopolis and Amida were lost. Involving the Slavs and Bulgars, the Anastasian Wall was constructed to defend Constantinople.
