Vaguely inspired by Cruelty Squad, Dead Space and the Greek myth of Arachne.

They say a spider stalks the streets, biding its time until it finds its prey. They say it was human once, and it was. It had been a mechanic who started out in the slums and got her start with a specialized repair rig designed for space settlers that featured cables to anchor the user, smart glasses, a compact life support system, and six mechanical legs. Her ingenious and cost-efficient design was a commercial success. Companies lined up with job offers, but her fame also attracted enemies, including a former tech monopoly that she edged out of the market. Its leaders sent minions after her to knock her out of the competition and she was ambushed in her workshop. As the villains fled the scene, she desperately crawled to the prototype of her repair rig, her very first creation, and plugged herself in, hoping the life support system would save her. The machine did revive its host, but she wasn't the one who awakened. Something inhuman was born in her place. And the corporation that wronged her was its prey.
