i'm like 94% sure i've made a skin of this character before but it didn't look like this so i'm in the clear
okay here's the dealio
i have this book that i've been working on for like two years and it's finally to the point where i'm okay with showing it to other people without cringing and skipping entire chapters
and (i know, i know, i'm probably way too ambitious) in the future, publishing it would be really awesome
but professional editors (story editors, mind you, not copy-editors) charge like a TON for books with a lot of words
and for a book with just under 70k words that's kind of a lot of charging, especially for a smol child with no steady source of income
so, instead of paying professionals to tell me what they think about my book, i've decided to find some beta readers instead.
The book's working title is Stormborn (which only begins to make sense toward, like, the very end of the book). The story's kind of convoluted, but it's basically about these two teenagers who get kidnapped and have to escape from these people that are doing this weird experiment thing on just a few selective people. Only part 1 (which is the 70k-word part) is available at this point, because I haven't finished editing part 2 yet.
(i swear, my grammar in the book is a whole lot better than my grammar in this skin description. you can find some of my older work here. that portfolio is kind of outdated, actually, which means that the writing in the part of the book that you'll be seeing is actually reasonably better than that.)

How you can be a part of this:
Don't worry, there's no big screening process or anything. I just need to make sure that you really want to help, that you're a trustworthy person (since you'll have editing privileges of my google doc), and that you know enough about basic English to be able to identify awkward sentences and the odd misused word.
Keep in mind that, as a beta reader, your job will NOT be editing spelling, grammar, etc. (I've got that covered already.) Your job is to provide feedback on the story itself. Are the characters likable? Is the story taking too long to get somewhere? Are you having difficulty imagining a certain setting?
Honestly, I'm probably the hardest person ever to offend, so I'm not going to mind tough love. If something sucks, tell me how I can fix it, in whatever terms you like.
Basically, to become a beta reader, just PM me your answers to this form.

Thingy
What's the name you'd want displayed in the "acknowledgements" portion of the finished thing?
Do you read frequently?
Do you like fantasy, sci-fi, and/or slightly futuristic settings?
What's your age (or age range)?
What makes you want to help me out with this project?
There are no wrong answers to any of these questions, mind you, so there's no need to act like your applying for a job. Basically, I just want to know that you're passionate enough about reading to do a good job.
