The Bone Snatcher is a creature from another dimension that feeds on children. It can jump through dimensions, but can only create dimensional rifts into protected, enclosed spaces with some kind of opening it can fit through to move in the rest of the house. For this reason, the Bone Snatcher usually manifests itself in closets. After manifesting, the creature will have to find a spot for it's connection ritual - a place where the Bone Snatcher can completely invade a child's dream and bring their soul to it's realm. No one knows why only some places are suitable for this, but sometimes the Bone Snatcher can invade the dream right in the child's bed.

After it finds the spot, the Bone Snatcher will find one child of the house and start slightly influencing their dream. The child will rise from the bed, in deep sleep, and walk around under the Bone Snatcher's control. It can control multiple children at once, but this is very rare, especially if the children have to be moved far away. Once the child is in a suitable place, the Bone Snatcher begins the ritual, and the cruelest part begins.

Whatever the child was dreaming of will rapidly shift into visions of a hellish dimension. The child "awakens" in a maze made of bone and flesh secreting trickles of blood and pus, with the walls standing 15 feet high. The maze seems to be alive, but stuck in it's current configuration. The stony ground has marks of struggle with small human remains in it's nooks and crannies. A red sky looms above with lightning striking in the distance. Wailing of previously captured souls echo from within the walls, trying to warn the living victim. The child's soul has been brought to the Bone Snatcher's realm, and is now in great danger.

The children are first allowed to roam free in the maze. But then, the most horrifying, beastial roar rushes through the air of the maze. The Bone Snatcher begins its chase, with the rattling of nails on the stone floor and frenzied growls getting nearer. The maze has no places for hiding, so the victims can only run. The creature is very powerful and runs very fast, but it can be tricked - children who have been able to make distractions and stay quiet have evaded the creature long enough to escape the maze. Upon exiting the maze, the children awake back in the normal world.

The Bone Snatcher has been reported from as far as the 16th century, where a child was burned alive after being suspected of demonic posession. He said that he fell asleep, dreaming of happily flying over a field of wheat. A stranger then appeared and pointed that a nearby farm had treasure inside the barn. The boy ran over to the farm, when all of a sudden the earth cracked open beneath him, opening a seemingly bottomless pit. He fell down into the darkness, but he was then shot upwards out of the ground. He slammed down with a force that knocked the wind out of him. The boy found himself in a dream maze with his twin brother. They were stalked by some hellish creature for what seemed like an eternity, and when they were nearing the exit, the boy's twin brother fell to the clutches of the Bone Snatcher. The boy ran to the exit while having to hear the cries of agony of his brother, which were then ovetaken by the snapping of bone and crackling of cartilage. The escaped son woke up right next to his brother, staring right into his brother's lifeless face. Every single bone of his body was cracked - what remotely resembled his face was locked into complete pain.

The children that managed to escape the ordeal have never been the same since. Like the previous story, many children before the 18th century were killed or them and their families shunned by the communities for witchcraft and demonic posession. Modern age children are not killed, but most of them cannot function normally anymore. They remain in a mostly catatonic state, with their eyes locked into a sleepless thousand yard stare. Mental institutions are suspected to be filled with these patients, as many of these kinds of patients are unable to express what drove them to that state. Some have committed suicide after the Bone Snatcher's visit, leaving behind erratic suicide notes that have details of not being able to sleep anymore after this hellish encounter.

The Bone Snatcher's visits have been recorded on video twice, where rich families, concerned for their safety, had cameras installed in all rooms of the house. The creature itself was not visible, but it's effects can be seen, all the way from moving the closet door to breaking the child's body.

The video tapes, mental asylum interviews, suicide notes and coroner's reports have been confiscated by an international foundation with an interest to keep these kind of things under wraps. If documents detailing this creature were to leak to the outside world, everyone would most probably laugh these off, but as the people would recognize the pattern of mysterious deaths, it could cause a world wide panic.
