The Hunter's Legacy (Preview)

Crack! Silence is broken deep inside the Taiga forest, as a young deer drops with a thud to the forest floor, an arrow shaft protruding from its chest. A figure emerges from behind a tree, and releases the tension on his bow, lowering it to his side.

'Go get 'im Hunter, he's all yours.' A young wolf runs out across the forest floor to collect his prize. As a master hunter and survivalist, the Wolf is a fitting symbol. It represents some of the many qualities that every hunter should hope to have: bravery, courage, and fierce loyalty. With a look up to the sun, high in the sky above, the man, Civ, calls to the wolf, who pads towards him, dragging the fallen deer by one leg.

'Let's head home. Good lad Hunter, we're not going hungry tonight.' He grins at the wolf and ruffles his hair, to which Hunter muffles a happy bark. The pair walk back through the forest, and in a matter of hours, they return to their tower home in the mountains. Hunter wags his talk impatiently outside the door to the tower, waiting. Civ unlocks the door, and watches the wolf as it scrambles inside and straight up the stairs.

He smiles to himself; that dog always manages to amuse him. Quickly, his thoughts turn to food as he notices a dull stomach ache, and he heads over to the stove. Opening it, he curses, realizing he's out of the coal, which means another damned trip down to the mine.

Eurgh, I hate that place...

As if psychic, Hunter appears at his side, eager for another trip outside. But it was going to get dark soon, and Civ would rather have the wolf stay here to look after the house.

"Stay here Hunter, I'm going to the mine, we'll have dinner when I get back." Civ said, with a stern look. Hunter looked almost hurt, and walks away, tail drooping.

Soppy thing...., he thinks to himself, watching his pet sulk.

After quickly rooting through a chest for the tools he needs, Civ opens the heavy wooden doors and closes them behind him, turning the key in the lock until he hears the click, before heading in the direction of the mine, pickaxe in hand.

This is a true story that is still in the process of being written. When it is done I expect it to be released in a blog. The skin is a representation of myself in the story. Enjoy!
