In 1994 the cinematic powerhouse "Street Fighter" was released. It was met with critical acclaim and fanfare for its subtle, earnest portrayal of warfare. While originally conceived as a mere video game tie-in, writer and director Steven E. de Souza saw potential to teach its audience important lessons about arms trafficking, genetic tampering, megalomania and Tuesdays.

The Academy ignored this movie in favor of commercial fare like "Schindler's List" and "Forrest Gump," obviously showcasing their ignorance of nuanced filmmaking.

Raul Julia stole the show as dictator M. Bison, but Jean-Claude Van Damme's restrained and tacful portrayal of Allied Nations Colonel Willam F. Guile was the focal point of the film.

Audiences the world over still get chills when hearing Guile ask Bison, "Are you man enough to fight with me?" And let's not forget that indellible speech, in which he threatened to beat Bison so hard "that the next Bison wannabe is going to feel it."

Van Damme gave his all in his portrayal of Guile. It was a true tribute to the character. In turn, this skin pays tribute to him.
