Story:


At first, there were the steampunks. The robots had fallen into a state of disrepair from the years since the Victorian era. Slow machines, proudly sent out to do as they would and function as bots. They became inanimate, memories forgotten, only sketches. Later came the years of video. There was Motion picture, Technicolor, and high definition realistic virtues of games, super heroes, villains, mythological creatures, and action adventure. Then came the apocalypse and the end of previous old world views in the December of 2012. Although humans had thought themselves advanced in their ways and technologically wiser than ever before, new opinions, ideas, renovations, and innovations followed. The monsters and deadliness of the end of the world had given rise to new technology as war normally does. Since humans were masters of all the animals of the world, they had previously conquered nature. But now zombies and monsters of new kinds had brought about reason to invent new methods of defense. New reasoning, logic, science, and mechanics were introduced at the time. Humans had to compensate for their losses in the apocalypse and brought about highly advanced robots to do their work for them. Bots of all sorts were invented, doing all the chores that needed to be done, cleaning up the world, building new cities, enforcing law, and doing ordinary work as well. But the bots took control of the earth, becoming wise and breaking free from slavery. There was war. Bots built upon themselves, making each other stronger, wiser, and more dangerous. The smart humans that had survived the apocalypse tried to yet again innovate and renew order, peace, and prosperity to the world. However, it was too late and the Bots were unstoppable. Law Enforcing Bots and World Cleaning Bots now roamed the city streets, causing human societies to flee into the wilderness, into hiding and start anew. The humans were nearly extinct, with less than a sixth of the worldo s previous population still alive. Only the smartest were living, including one particular scientist, who lived in Antarctica in a mechanically heated home that was in a place where the bots would freeze up and wereno t able to move if they came near enough, but they nearly never did anyways. This scientist was particularly smart and knew that humankind would soon come to an end. He began to study time and its properties and made many new discoveries. He was eventually capable of making a time machine, and he did so. Next, he waited. On a particularly warm night for the region, a bot came about, wandering, and lost. So the scientist, cautiously, went out to talk to the bot. It had the ability to converse at will and control its actions. It was not a mean bot. Nor was it an evil bot like all the others. In fact, oddly enough, the bot was friendly. It had been exiled into the freezing cold waters, presumably dead by the other bots. It had been punished for sparing humans and befriending them, as bots must not do that and had been sent into the waters. But it was a thinking robot and it adapted, not rusting or locking up as a normal machine would. The bot headed to find land elsewhere, far away. It traveled for months, not needing food or energy, just time. Eventually it, the bot, reached Antarctic shores and wandered, trying in vain to find somewhere warm. When it saw humans it hid, but the particular previously mentioned scientist found it and befriended it. They analyzed each other, comparing, scanning, and virus-checking the other. The scientist gave it a warm home, and in return, asked for a favor. The bot was to carry on this story, to tell mankind to watch out, leaving instructions on how to avoid all of what had transpired. The scientist believed that the past could be changed if one went back to it from the future in order to change the present. The bot went into the time machine to become a cyber-messenger of sorts. The past would be changed, in order to change the future. And just this messenger remained with his message. It was the only remainder of the cyberpunk era.
