The cyplopes is a one eyed creature from Greek mythology.  They were the sons of Posiedon, the God of the sea, but were the workmen of Hephaestus, the god of fire.  The cyclopes is Immune to fire and don't fear the gods and led a lawless life.  The also forge Zeus's lightning bolts.

They are not son's of posidan they are uncles to posidan and cousins/brothers to to titans get you're mythology right.
