It's kinda an experiment with detailed shading (the farthest I could get) but it's really messy lol
Dear Diary,
Today I encountered an unfamilar creature hidden in the desert sands. As I stopped to drink from my bottle, a red crystaline gem appeared out of the sand and emitted a strange glow. Sand swarmed around the gem and red veins sprouted, holding the sand together. I made for cover and watched the gem. The sand finally formed into a monsterous beast, albeit quite crude. Sand held together fragilely and the veins pulsed weakly. However, the beast cried a terrible roar and noticed me. Surprised by the horror that started upon me, I cloaked myself. The beast, however, knew where I was, and was gaining on me. While I was running, in my desperation, I leaped into a gorge. The beast appeared to follow, but I did not know where during my fall. Luckily, the gorge wasn't too deep and I fell in a crevice, though with minor injuries. As I write this, It is April 20th, and I can hear the beast scream. I fear these are my last moments.

I was sneaking my phone under the table reading this. Since I normally am not allowed to get on it with guests over. It was really embarrassing.
