As human beings we have a tendency to react out of anger when we are treated poorly by others. We make snap-judgements based off of negative first impressions and unpleasant encounters with people we barely know. From that moment on, any time we see that person, we can feel our blood-pressure already rising, as we think of all the worst possible outcome of the coming interaction. Maybe its a cashier at a store (or any acquaintance we see from time to time) that irks us every time we meet in public. Maybe its a co-worker or fellow student. Maybe its just that random guy on the street, dressed in a certain way, with an "I don't need anyone. Stay away from me." kind of face and overall demeanor. And who knows -- perhaps the worst outcome will come, but we don't even really know the person or what they've been going through in life that got them to the place that they are today. Maybe the person is just having a bad day. Maybe there is something a lot deeper and hurtful going on than we can see on the surface. A person's personality (or inner person, psyche, soul, whatever you want to name it) is often developed via an accumulation of childhood upbringing and life events. When someone has a tendency to react to people with hostility, indifference, or have an overall demeanor of wanting nothing to do with anyone else, its usually rooted in a culmination of poor interactions with others from their past.

You may notice that this skin is mostly overlay. You can't actually see the inner skin. All you can see is the man on the outside, with his seemingly unpleasant and unkind appearance. Maybe you can see a few blips and pixels here and there, but for the most part everything on the inside is hidden. You can view the inside skin by looking at it in its 2D format (which would probably be best) or simply removing the overlay while previewing the skin above (although you may not be able to see the sides of his torso, which also have "a story" featured on them. This "story" is depicted in pixel art, and I will lead you through its progression (from part to part). Just a disclaimer for anyone who may wonder: This is not my story. It's just a story that I came up with as I made the skin. By the way, while there's nothing graphic about the story's pixel art, for some, the story itself may come across a bit sad and dark.

1.) Some of the "story" I leave open for personal interpretation, but I will say that at the beginning of the story, there are two parents and one child. On the torso (chest, back, sides) there is a depiction of one of the parents (I don't specify which one) leaving home in a vehicle. The other parent is on the porch. The child is in the yard. Around the side and to the back of the skin, it's shown that the driver of the vehicle went off the road and crashed into a tree.

2.) On the head there is a scene that opens up of an adult figure standing in front of a grave (revealing that the driver did not survive the wreck). The child stands behind the adult, but can only be seen on the side of the head.

3.) On the front of the legs there is an image of the remaining adult falling into depression and varying poor health habits (these habits could include alcoholism, which was my original idea, but I left it open for the viewer's interpretation. The child stands in the darkened doorway watching. The adult is depicted as wearing a gray-ish white shirt, while the child is always seen wearing red (this was to help distinguish between the two).

4.) On the back of the legs there is an image of the adult yelling at the child (this was meant to suggest that the parent had become abusive to the child after getting wrapped up in the poor habits that had been developed).

5.) This is perhaps the hardest part of the story to make out if not viewed in its 2D format. It would most likely be extremely difficult to understand without this description. This is because of the similar pictures that are on both the arms and the torso. Starting on the front of the arms, is shown an image of the abusive parent standing in the driveway in front of the garage, watching as the child (now old enough to leave home) drives off on a motorcycle. Going around to the back of the arms, it shows that the grown child passes the tree the other parent wrecked into (the site is marked with a cement cross), and then continues onward, passing the town sign and then out of frame (showing that he left town).

The whole purpose of this skin's internal "story" is to remind you never to judge a book by its cover, and to try, even if its hard to empathize with those that seem unlovable.

This skin was quite a bit of work to accomplish. I had to keep going back again and again, checking the overlay to ensure that the skin did not have a glitchy appearance about it, while still thoroughly encasing the inside.
