Backstory-
Steve stood on the street  corner and looked up at the costume shop. The chilly fall air blew around him, the night beginning to dim without the aid of streetlights on this side of town. The sign on the shop was decaying, but he could make out the words "Old Hallow's Costume Shoppe; The most genuine deals around." Needless to say it wasn't his first pick, but with Halloween right around the corner most of the other stores were out of stock. He hesitantly stepped inside, the door loudly creaking behind him as it rang a bell alerting a very old shopkeeper to his presence.
"Welcome to my costume shop! I'm mister Hallow. Feel free to browse, but might I recommend the masks in the back. I presume you're looking for something spooky for Halloween night." The man croaked out from behind his counter. Steve looked around the rest of the shop. It certainly wasn't like any usual store, but it was certainly a nice change from the blustery street corner. The inside of the store was very old fashioned, unpainted wooden shelves displaying all manner of spooky memorabilia that could only be described as, well... genuine. Steve wasn't sure how practical a jar of eyeballs or a zombie hand would be for a costume, but they certainly appeared well-made. Steve shuddered a little and decided to make his way to the back where the shopkeeper had mentioned. Stepping into the back room, he was greeted with a wide array of masks gaping down on him from the walls. He saw a few recognizable characters, like Herobrine and an Enderman, and a few not so recognizable ones. One in particular which happened to catch his eye. Hanging from the closest shelf at eye level, as if it wanted him to find it, was a hollowed-out head resembling a deer skull. A tarnished tag to the side read "Fog'har Spiorad, the Original Hallow's Eve Spirit" Dark empty sockets stared back at him as he lifted it off the shelf, feeling the tough, almost-rubber material in his hand.
"I also have a mirror in front if you happen to find anything you wish to try." The shopkeeper's voice pierced into the back room, making Steve jump a little and snapping him from his trance.
"Oh, well I think I might have found something." Steve replied, making his way to the front of the store, mask in hand. The shopkeeper's eyes glinted when he saw Steve make his return with the mask.
"Ah yes, one of my personal favorites in the inventory. I highly encourage you to give it a chance." The old man said, with a sudden spark of enthusiasm in his voice. By now, Steve should have probably made a dash out of the store, but something about the mask pulled him along. He stood in front of the old dusty mirror and donned the mask. It took him a moment to get the thick mask over his head, but once he did he felt a cold rush of air overtake him. He felt a faint voice whisper "freedom..." in his ear, as his vision was consumed with what his image in the mirror had become. The mask suddenly appeared twice as lifelike, with large antlers sprounting from the sides. His clothes were no longer his own, and were instead replaced with some type of traditional looking cloth and jewelry. He would have ripped the mask off by now, if he was still under his own free will.
"We at Old Hallow's thank you for your purchase, feel free to stop by again any time..." The shopkeeper spoke from behind the counter, chuckling lightly as Steve passed out onto the floor. And so the eldritch autumn spirit was free again to wreck all the little kids on the block in costume contests and get more candy than anyone else.
So basically the inspiration for my skin/costume was the aspects of traditional halloween and the old Celtic festivals that had originally inspired it (never thought I would have to do research for a skin before lmao). The idea of the costume itself is an old deer skull mask that had been involved in some ritual hundreds of years ago and contained the spirit of an ancient ghost "Fog'har Spiorad", which is actually a slight butchering on the Gaelic words "Fall Spirit". The mask then goes around trying to possess people each night on Halloween and then partakes in some uncharacteristically light-hearted halloween shenanigans. Had fun making this and coming up with the story for it, hope you guys like!
