Hakase Shinonome Nichijou

The most confusing character of them all, and without any backstory or reason. She's just there, she exists. Nobody knows how she built Nano, or why her parents are gone (and she seems to ignore their existence too)... Does she have parents at all? heck, no one even knows how she got the laboratory, does she pay taxes? rent? bills? What was it before Nano was built?
