Here's a chainmail and gambeson armored Steve that's the most accurate I could get away using pixels.

It represent undergarments as seen between the legs (both in the front/back and in between) and the textures of the body and the legs.

Then a pair of brown trousers strapped to aforementioned undergarments, adorned in a pair dark leathery shoes.

Instead on the top we have a vertically padded gambeson (cloth armor) wore as a protection against impacts during the 12-13th century buttoned on the front and holded (mainly the weight) around the waist with a dark cloth rope. At the time it could include padded mittens (gloves) and a padded cap, the former is included, the latter is not for obvious reasons related to the face's skin left unchanged for people to mess with.

On the outer layer it goes the chainmail, first a mail coif (on the head) decorated with brass fringes as they used to fashion their armor.

Then an hauberk (mail shirt) with sleeves, strapped on the back with leather and held at the waist with a belt, complete with mail chausses (mail trousers) strapped to the underwear as well. The mail is also overall held with "hidden" straps on the forehead, above the elbow line and above the kneecaps line. Under the chausses can be seen the leather soles (left without armor to have a better grip on the ground) and on the palm of the hand pieces of leather woven into the mail to give a better grip on the weapons and not too much distress to the wearer's hand.

It could be added an helm (preferably a great helm from the 13th century or a cervelliere) or a surcoat if one so pleases.
