The Knights Hospitaller were an order that existed during the Crusades, and operated out of a hospital in Jerusalem, hence the name "Hospitaller". Like the Knights Templar, they were both monks and knights, swearing a vow to poverty, chastisty and obedience. Their main role was to protect Christian pilgrims entering the Holy Land from "the infedels".
