Here's my entry for the Life on the High Seas Skin Contest.
Lucelia Banker was a servent of one of the richest familes from Europe. The family traveled a lot, and she never feared the sea. Lucelia was ordered to her mistress' room one evening, so she could help her get ready. She knew the procedure of a wealthy woman's hair and makeup, and got right to it. The boat rocked slightly, side to side, as she brushed through her hair, an event that Lucelia was used to. As soon as she was finishing putting her mistress' the warning bell went off. Lucelia's eyes widened, she nervously brushed a hand through her own hair. She and her mistress left the bedroom and went up to the ships deck, where they both noticed a swirlling air tunnel tear through the sky, not far from the ship.
This never happens. Thought Lucelia. Everyone from the crew was frantically rushing towards their stations, and Lucelia and her mistress went quickly to the captain's cabin. The air tunnel grew closer. And closer. Without thinking, Lucelia sprinted from the room and on to the deck, where the dingys were normally. The small boats were already prepared to be launched from the main ship, and she noticed her Master already there. She hopped into one of the boats and yelled towards a ship mate. He released the boat from its ties and Lucelia Banker was free of the ship. She rowed and rowed once the boat had settled, and just as the tunnel struck the boat, Lucelia was a short distance away. The tunnel's wind pushed Lucelia far away from any land or landmarks she recodnized. She was lost.
