Long ago, the druids inhabited the regions now known as the Crimson and Warped Forests within the Nether dimension. These elusive yet powerful beings possessed Herculean abilities that rivaled even the Wither's abilities; these beings were so mighty that even their bones could be fired into one of the most powerful substances known to man: netherite. Despite their intimidating and mysterious appearances, the druids of the Nether kept balance in the dimension and had rightfully earned the respect of its inhabitants. Their mere presence was enough to make even the tiniest of Crimson and Warped saplings stretch and grow. Fungi sprouted in their footsteps, the animals bowed at their passing, and even the blazes and ghasts paused in midair to acknowledge these divine creatures.

One day, however, the Nether Druids simply vanished without a trace. As a result of their disappearance, the forests began to shrink and wither; no longer did the Warped Vines flourish and grow to magnificent heights, no longer did the Hoglins of the Crimson Forest greet passersby with affectionate bumps. The Nether dimension quickly fell into disarray as kin fought against kin, all vying for a piece of the quickly-deteriorating forests. Without the druids, the Nether's ecosystem began to die and convert into vast and lifeless biomes known as the Nether Wastes.

Soon, not one creature could not recall what the druid's peace felt like. The era of tranquility was gone forever.

After millennia of war and violence, a new player entered the arena: a human. The human was ignorant; it did not know of all the bloodshed and despair that this brave new world had endured. Only the Ancient Debris--the bones of the Nether Forest Druids--could give the human a hint as to what happened to this place so many centuries ago.

DRUID APPEARANCE:

  • EYES: Druids are blind, but they can use the natural foliage around them to guide themselves.
  • CLOTHING: Because of the sheer heat of the Nether in general, Nether Forest Druids wear minimal clothing. Clothing material is also scarce since the only source is leather, which can only be taken from Hoglins. The druids do not want to kill other creatures simply for their own benefit, so they wear as little clothing as possible.
  • SHOES: Depending on the region, some druids do not wear shoes. They can "see" with their feet by feeling vibrations in the ground, so being barefoot helps them be able to guide themselves without the help of vines or animals. In the Warped Forests, it is more common to see Druids without shoes as long as the soil is not too hot. In hotter regions, like the Crimson Forest and Basalt Deltas, Druids wear shoes to protect their feet from magma.
  • FUNGI AND VINES: Druids often let fungi and vines grow on them. The fungi and vines help guide the druids, and in return, the fungi and vines have a place to live! It is not uncommon to see this sort of symbiotic relationship between the druids and Nether flora.
Anyways, hope you enjoyed that lore :) I feel like Minecraft gives writers and world builders a lot of freedom in terms of lore because the game gives us so little info about strange structures and dimensions. I really hope that this entry stays within the bounds of the contest; it's not exactly garden related, but I thought it would be enough to feature natural aspects (i.e. fungi, vines) even if they're not TECHNICALLY from the overworld, hehe!
