The "Harlequin Squad" are a group of elite soldier who distinguish themselves with clown-themed face paint. These soldiers are highly resourceful and are often tasked for retrieval missions from anomalous zones. They are often criticized for their lack of discipline, however this criticism is based of the unsuccessful mission known as "Operation : Bed Monster". While faced with unreliable communications, lack of equipment, fatigue, diminishing food supplies, and low ammo count, many survived the 3 week long skirmish with the abominations found in the town of [REDACTED], located in New Australia. The only recovered video record was found on the body of Lt. Kruger. In the footage, it begins with 2 local police forces assisting the Company fend off against the creatures while administering (limited) medical attention, one of the officers begins to be attacked through the mouth by what appears to be a tongue of some sort. The other officer beings firing in hopes of neutralizing the creature, however is not successful. Personnel on the second floor can be heard defending themselves with machine guns, and could not aid their comrades on the lower floor. An infected individual rushes Kruger's comrade, and manages to pin him down. A knife is sent into Kruger's hand, in which he pulls the knife from his hand and blinds the attacker by sending the blade into his eyes. The attacker is not killed unfortunately and eventually kills Kruger's comrade, who is not yet identified. Kruger grabs a nearby pistol, and after several shots finally neutralizes the crazed attacker. He is found in the middle of crossfire, and quickly evades the gunfire and creature in the vicinity. He rushes upstairs to find that his squad had been eliminated and is nowhere to be found. He finds a boy crying out for help, but is quickly killed in an unknown fashion by the creatures previously seen. That is when the tape ends.
