A short description about the female Samurai warrior:
In feudal Japan there were many female samurai known as ‘Onna-bugeisha’ who fought in battles along side the Samurai. Their armour was made of metal plates and leather, which was held together with colourful cords. The armour had a separate front and back chest plate and several metal plates protecting the arms and legs. It was designed to be strong yet flexible to allow movement when in battle. Onna-bugeisha also carried a weapon called the ‘Naginata’, which had a long handle with a sharp curved blade like a sword.
