hey lol im here to share my concerns. skinning is a fun creative release in my free time when i dont have anything going on, i love to recreate and reinterpret others' personas and concepts ( as gifts ) while a lot of the time still posting my own.
i get its hard to come up with new ideas when the minecraft avatar base only gives you a certain amount of space, and i have even caught myself falling into one of my favourite skinners' shading styles a little bit previously. realising this, i have very quickly proceeded to change it completely.
inspiration is normal, taking someones idea and turning into something of your own is part of being an artist.
however, there is a fine line between someone else's personal style and your own. becoming 'popular' as an artist in general requires being creative and original. e.g, if your work was in a lineup among several of other people's works, would someone be able to guess who created it? or is it too similar to someone else's.
what has been concerning me recently, is the amount people are willing to copy from other creators without crediting them or even asking them first. I am aware that this has always been a problem, and always will be, but i wanted to let everyone know that I can see when you use something of mine or someone else's and it doesn't always go unnoticed. I guess i had to speak on it because it really hurts to see a creator you love use something you've come up with yourself.
in many ways, i am not talking about just myself, there are so many incredible people that i see their creations being - more or less - ripped off. often i'll see something like that and i wont do anything in fear of creating a bigger issue - which is why this is not directed at anyone - it is just a general feeling i wanted to discuss.
i have, very recently, discovered a way i like to shade that i guess is still very general, but it isn't a direct copy of anything. It is a mish-mash of lots of creators i have been inspired by over the years. i guess i can see people taking ideas i've had and slotting them into their own skins without saying a word about it.
it's just the sad thing about creative communities. again, this is not directed towards anyone personally, but i hope whoever reads this will take the message.
sorry if this is aggressive i was just upset
also am aware that this skin is generic and could be anyones lol

am i allowed to use ur fluffy skirt technique
walk, ur style is probably one of the most unique out there. I hated the steve arms, but the shading and palette is too good to for me to dislike ur skins ;u;
so basically, nothing is original. sometimes, copying is completely accidental as was the case with my friend Camellia_ a while ago.
but cool skin.
thanks
