I originally made this skin as a skin inspired by my old Facebook profile pic, and yes my display pic here in PMC is a variation of it, it is a gouache watercolor version.
When I made this skin, I only focused on the face, and when I put a body then dressed it up, I realized that it looked like Simoun, a character form Philippine National Hero Jose Rizal's novel El Filibusterismo. Simoun is often depicted with a hat, glasses, and facial hair, and that is also the features of the display pic of almost all of my social media accounts that I used for more than five years, and I just only realized that it looked Like Simoun from El Filibusterismo when I made this skin.
Simoun is the main character in Jose Rizal's two El Filibusterismo novels. As Crisostomo Ibarra (which is his real name), he is the main protagonist in Rizal's first novel, Noli Me Tangere. In the first novel, he was idealistic, believing that social reforms can bring the end to the social cancer plaguing the Spanish-ruled Philippines. In Rizal's second novel, he returns as a rich jewelry salesman, Simoun. He is known to be the influential in the Spanish colonial government in the Philippines and has links to the Captain-General. He seeks to ignite the sentiments of the Filipinos, so that a revolution may arise.
