Sir Gaultier, The Bloodcursed Knight
On an assignment by the King, Sir Gaultier encountered a dreadful foe, the demon prince Tagthorith. Their battle was legendary and according to tales from the locals, it went on for over a week. When at long last the knight and his enemy were on the brink of collapse, Sir Gaultier pushed forward with a final blow and ripped out the demons gemstone heart.
This forsaken artifact in hand, he let out a scream of despair and relief, that was so loud, one could hear it back in his home kingdom, but it was suddenly interrupted, as the demon's claws pierced straight through his chest.
However he would not die that day. He placed the pulsing crystal, that moments ago kept his toughest foe he'd ever faced alive, right into the gaping hole in his chest. Refusing to let his King down he went back on his quest, but even millennia after the fall of the kingdom he didn't return.
