Many of you might recognize the skin below on the left or have seen some variants on the web, a Minecraft server, or even used it yourself at some point. Maybe it was one of the other variants. You could search "Steampunk" on Planet Minecraft or Skindex, or both, and you'd almost immediately encounter at least one skin that was a copy, edit, re-color, or even all three of this skin. Personally, I recognize it immediately because this was the first skin I ever used when I started playing Minecraft on PC.
So for the Steampunk Jam, I decided I'd remake it, putting it up to date with the modern standards for skins. However, because I had already changed my skin years ago, and NameMC was of no help, I ended up going on a 5-hour search just to find it on Skindex after almost endless clones of it! And out of curiosity, I kept going through page after page of skins until realizing that not even the one I used was the original! That was until I encountered this steampunk skin made by illtalont (shown in the middle below) At this point, I thought I'd done it and found the "original Red Steampunk skin". That was until I scrolled down and was met with a "very pleasant" comment made by Softy105 claiming it was originally his skin and had posted it back in 2010, but the only instance I could find was his re-upload (shown on the right) in 2014, a year after illtalont's version.
