The Superb Fairywren is a passerine belonging to the Australasian Wren family. Unrelated to the True Wrens and New Zealand Wrens.

Males are brightly coloured with a range of blues and blacks while the females are brown.

Like other Fairywrens, they're socially monogamous. Meaning they pairs with only 1 male and 1 female. However, each will mate with many other individuals meaning they're not sexually monogamous. This will result in the clutch being a mix of many genes from different parents. This is great for genetic diversity.
