This is the princess from The Light Princess, by George MacDonald
Her looks were never described other than 'not fat, but plump and tall' so...

I based the dress that she's wearing off of this one. ('Cuz I don't know anything about dresses lol)

So here's the story, I'm sorry that this summary is so long, but this is a long fairy tale:

A king and queen bared a baby girl, who was to have a christening. The king invited everyone in the kingdom except his spiteful, sour sister, Princess Makemnoit, whom he forgot about. Princess Makemnoit attended anyway, and cursed the king and queen’s daughter,

“Light of spirit, by my charms;
light of body, ever part;
never weary human arms;
only crush thy parents’ heart!”

The parents soon realized they must be careful because their dear daughter had lost her gravity, and could be lost if a breeze picked her up and blew her away. As the princess grew older, the parents take notice that the princess never cried, and couldn’t see the more serious side of things. Even the court philosophers were unable to help the king and queen with their predicament.

Once she got old enough, the princess started swimming, and enjoyed it. The princess was weighed down in water, unlike air, and enjoyed the water. This leaded the parents to believe that if they could bring their daughter to cry, they could lift the curse Princess Makemnoit had put upon their child. The king and queen, though, were unable to make her sad. A prince from another country who was looking for a wife, stumbled upon the princess, and tried to save her from the lake, thinking she was drowning. He ended up setting her afloat in the air, and she scolded him:

“You naughty, naughty, NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY man!”

He had made her angry. The prince fell in love, as her anger gave her an edge, and put her back into the water as she commanded. He even decided to swim with her. Days pass, and the price realized that he could not wed her, for her manner changed between water and land. Princess Makemnoit discovered the princess’s love for the lake and dried it up. It was discovered that the water could be stopped if a living man went to block the hole that was draining the lake. The living man would surely drown in the process.

The prince volunteers, feeling his life would be pointless without the princess, who would surely die if the lake dried up. There was a catch though, the prince required the princess accompany him while he lived. The lake filled, and when the prince had almost drowned, the princess frantically saved him from the lake and brought him to the old nurse.

When the princess was about to give up on the prince, he opened his eyes, which caused the princess to cry. As she started crying, she fell to the floor, regaining her lost gravity. When the princess tried to stand up, she couldn’t (for she had never learned how to walk or even stand like those with gravity). After the princess had learned to stand and walk with gravity, she and the prince got married, and lived happily ever after.

...Oh, I forgot about Princess Makemnoit, well, the water undermined her house, and when the house fell, she was buried in the ruins, where nobody ventured to search for her.
