violet is chinese-american, the daughter of 2 first-generation chinese immigrants. growing up, she was pushed hard to succeed academically and excelled in school. however, she was abused by her mother, while her father did nothing to protect her and left when violet was 12. love was conditional and warmth was not common at home. violet was also friendless for several years since she had a hard time talking to others in the sea of people, which overwhelmed her. but then middle school rolled around (yay)! very good news. violet was able to open up and become more social and lively with her friends, particularly arun and august, both of whom were also recruited into conidae (but we'll get into that later).

by high school, the pressure on violet was at its all-time high, and she cracked under it, escaping to a youth shelter just before her 16th birthday. she felt as if she had no other choice but to run away, but she also panicked, questioning if her decision was the right thing to do. thankfully, conidae recruited violet after about a year at the shelter, and she was also able to complete high school and apply for college.

now, let's go back to violet's family life. you've been told of the abuse, running away (and severing ties), but what if i told you she had a brother? that's right. elliott ai ling was not only a tremendously gifted student, but also a musical prodigy. he suddenly disappeared without a trace when violet was only 11 and he was 17, a year before violet's father left as well, with no explanation. no one has heard from him since, but rumors have been circulating ...

enough of a missing brother. after being recruited into conidae, violet received training and practiced fighting and other skills to maximize her performance while actually fighting evil. soon after ending training and beginning missions to fight villains, august joined her after also being recruited. although violet is close with fellow conidae employees, august is still her best friend, and they're basically sisters at this point, doing everything together. violet also may or may not harbor feelings for arun, even after all these years when he switched schools in their freshman year of high school. the fun part? they're both conidae employees, but neither knows the other has also been recruited. more on that in arun's backstory though. ;)

violet is currently taking a gap year so she can focus on conidae. however, this fall, she will be attending her college of choice and hopes to do something in computer science. outside of conidae, she works at the local bakery and bookstore and lives in an apartment with august. august has been trying to get her into tennis, but violet's not a fan. her physical ability isn't the best, and she's always been insecure about it, but violet makes up for it with her insight and strategy while fighting.
