-Obsidian I always thought looked kinda bland, plus it has a weird square pattern to it if you have a bunch together.
-Clear glass, obviously.
-Better windows on doors
-Bed shading always looked a bit shiny to me, could be modified.
-Maybe make tree trunks/logs have some shading on both sides to look more rounded
-Sugarcane I always thought, was way too bright and neon green.
-Adding a bit of light to the wood handle part on torches, since the flame should be lighting it too.
-Making glowstone blocks look more like a lamp? Or at least not like shiny gold cobblestone, so it looks better as lighting in houses maybe?
-Making wool a bit more interesting, maybe just a simple rounded square around each one to make it less boring.
-Making the books in the bookshelf texture look less like a gradient couldn't hurt.
-Lapis blocks as blue bricks maybe?
-making the steps on the ladder uneven?
Just some suggestions based on edits I did to my own default texture pack that I made for personal use. lol
