When they were hunted down, there was an egg remaining, it was buried under endstone. One day it hatched, however... The next generation of Sniffers couldnt fly. They still had the elytra on them but they couldnt fly. They lost the ability to fly and now they just dig up seeds from overworld dirt to find chorus flower remainings.

Who knows... maybe they will regain their flying ability. They could still move their wings though. They just didnt have enough energy to fly.
