This is a really, really, really simple texture pack that I made. I mean, just look at it.
It's at a small resolution - most of the textures are 8x8. Thus, it *should* help out people like me, people with slow computers. The small resolution also helped me out when I was making the pack. My texturing skills aren't the best. :/
The whole pack is based around simple theme. Each region of color only has two variants of one color. There's the normal color as the background, and then the slightly darker one provides highlights. Most of the feel for this pack was created through the colors; about half the time I put into this pack was spent on getting the pallette just right. Overall, it's supposed to provide a soothing, dark tone. Looks best with smooth lighting.
Overall, it's just simple, but hopefully in a way that's stylish.
Hope you like!
Please note that I'm still working on the colormaps. The most updated template for a colormap that I curently own is for 1.5.2. So, I'm still working out where all of the other biomes are... For the meantime, I've replaced the missing locations with a really dark green. Which I honestly find very unsuitable for some biomes, but, eh... what can I do?

Well, it could be worse. :/

Anyways,
:0
Glad ya like it! ^ ^
Well, from what I remember (not much), the screencaps are up-to-date alright. It's just that I never really completed this pack, only had about half of the blocks or so were done when I stopped work on this pack. Hard drive got corrupted, and I had started learning programming (current project is kinda stand-still right now, btw), so I just kinda left this one in the dust.
Anyways, yeh, the animated ones are some of the most difficult ones. Lava, portal swirls, fire, and the like were pretty tough - ESPECIALLY FIRE. So I just left those for last.
But, yeah - that's what rolled.
Again, glad you like it, though! I might resume work on this, but probably after tackling some things on my bucket list.
We all have our own tastes.
Oh, and what do you mean by "overdone"? I understood everything else, except for that word - "overdone".
The pallette wasn't going to be limited to just a few universal colors; instead each block texture would have it's own mini, limited pallette. So applying concepts from the artists you suggested would be a bit ludicrous.
gotcha.
