Improved blocking features

There should be an improved blocking system

1. Comments by blocked users should be automatically hidden. (As shown below)

2. You should not be able to remain subbed to users you block, and upon blocking you should be automatically unsubbed. You can resub after you unblock them.

3. If you are blocked by a user, the only way of blocking them back is by going to a past PM with them, which not everyone has. Not everyone has had a PM with a user that blocked them, therefore the person that blocked them can continue to view their posts and comment on them, same with profiles guest books etc. Instead of giving the "unknown account" error screen, you should be told that the user has blocked you. or better yet, make it a two-way blocking system.

4. You should have a block list, one for who you block and one for people who block you

EDIT: ZappyGru says: "I really think that users should be told who blocked them. I think you should add in a part saying there should be a description box saying why they blocked them. Blocks with inappropriate or misused descriptions should be reported."

Create an account or sign in to comment.

set status to Accepted, assigned Paril.
There is a block list, so you can manage all of this yourself (there's also a Subscriptions & Subscriber list in your account settings where you can manage those).

We won't add descriptions to blocked users. More work for moderators for no benefit.

1 is a valid concern, however, and something that could be done, the only issue is all of the sub-comments would also be collapsed so you'd lose a whole branch potentially.

I disagree with needing a description for the block. If someone doesn't want to talk to someone else anymore, that's there prerogative and its no one else's business why if they don't want to share it.

As for #3, you can add someone to your block list manually by entering their username in the Block List included in your account management page.

I'd also like for you to automatically un-diamond and un-favorite their submissions and have them automatically un-diamond and un-favorite your submissions.

And, you can't see their likes in the likes log.

Also, if there is a box saying why you blocked them, I think only mods should be able to see it, not the blocked user.

Also, you can't see their wall posts or submissions. If something shared a wall post of theirs, it should say, "This wall post is by a blocked user."
