When a download link pointing to Patreon is inserted, the system recognizes the link as "monetized". However, in my case, and I imagine in the case of many other PMC users, the download link is actually free, without the need to subscribe to download the content. I believe it would be beneficial to be able to select whether the content is actually monetized or not.
If you want to provide a list of the content which is free, I can manually override it. Giving all users the ability to turn it off would lead to abuse though, so it’s not something we’re probably gonna ever add
