the boring part
When I was doing a roleplay, I decided to find a skin that matched the character description. I found the perfect one, except she was wearing the wrong color of shirt. I went into NovaSkin to edit it. I changed the shirt color to pink, and removed the bangs (Oh wow what was I thinking). After that, I grew interested in making skins. Then, when I went to search teen skins, the first thing that popped up was a rant! Even though I didn't understand the reason for people not liking those skins, I clicked on it. It described teen skins as "unoriginal, recolored, unshaded". I felt really bad, but I wanted to try making teen skins that those words couldn't describe. I made a few skins (I thought they were amazing then) and wanted to share them. I created a NovaSkin account, but I decided that it was hard to share skins that way (I had to create a new texture pack for every skin I made!). So I made a PMC account. I posted about five skins a day. Those skins were ugly and unshaded and literally took less time to make then to POST on PMC. I only got a couple of subscribers for that. At the time, I didn't understand why. I thought my skins were better than skinners with like 1,000 subscribers. I thought shading too much made skins ugly. Then, when I finally got five subscribers, (yes it took a long time :P) I made a skin to celebrate. It was actually kind of cute (but would still be described as unshaded). One day I was just scrolling through blogs and I found a hair shading tutorial. I wasn't very interested, but I clicked on it anyway. I tried to follow along with the tutorial and I actually found it very easy. I made a skin called Shading Test 1 using that hair shading. I got some good feedback (good job, and please stop using that strappy shirt). I did stop using that kind of shirt and kept trying to shade my skins. I made a second and a third shading test, but those were FAILS :P. I looked at a body shading tutorial and I started to shade all my skins like that. I finally discovered that eyes too high looked bad and bangs looked good. My number of subscribers increased. I was very pleased with my skins. Then, I discovered a comment on a teen skin (that looked kind of like it could be mine) that had constructive critisicm. It said things like "maybe try shading a little more and try to use a different style of bangs" . I realized that those tips would help me too. By the time I started shading even more, I had reached 25 subs. It soon went up to 50 subs and then 75. When I had around 80 subscribers, I stopped growing. I tried doing new shading to get more subscribers, but it didn't turn out very well. I chose to keep doing my old shading but add more hue shifting (That was a good choice because my 90 subs skin got pop reel and brought me up to 100).
END OF BORING PART
Thank you guys so much for supporting me and helping me reach one of my biggest goals - 100 subscribers. I hope we can double that number soon c: (Please don't criticize my bad blogging skills)
THE END!!!!
