So you start out in a new world, hoping to one day defeat the mighty ender dragon. But first, you have to start with the basics. You bunch some trees, make some basic equipment, and think everything is going pretty well. Then the sun starts setting. Uh oh, you need somewhere to live because you won't stand a chance against the horrors of Minecraftia at night. Heres the guide to making a nice, simple, good looking house to stay in while you prepare for your quest to the End. You want some room, but don't make it too big. I recommend starting off by outlining a 12x12 area out of whatever material you want the walls of your house to be made out of(I usually use wooden planks). Make your house five blocks high, and then cover up the roof. Make a double door in the center of your house(You can have one door but it wouldn't be in the exact center which wouldn't be acceptable if you have OCD like me). Now make a 2x2 window in the center of each wall of your house. On the side with your door make two 2x2 windows on each side of the door(s). Now for the roof. Build a bunch of staircases out of the material of your choice(I recommend cobblestone). Then start stacking them one block over the edge of your roof. Stack them so that they go up by one level each time until each side meets in the center of your house. Then fill in the two gaps in between the stairs at the front and back ends of your house with the same material you made your walls out of. Now step back and admire the beauty of the place you call home.
