Author's Note: Keep in mind, this is being written from the perspective of someone who's watched up to season nine and is still waiting for it to arrive on Netflix. I'd appreciate it if nobody posted spoilers in the comments. Also, if something happens that changes my argument, it'd be nice if you could put a spoiler warning above it so that others can read it but I'll know not to. Thanks for reading my schpeel. Enjoy :)

Now don't get me wrong. Supernatural is up there as one of my favorite shows. Along with Lost and Heroes. Which I'm sure I can cover some other time :P but y'know, everything has it's problems, and as we all know problems ought to be fixed. Of course in order to fix problems they must first be pointed out. So here I am pointing out everything wrong with...

Can you handle this?

DEATH MEANS NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The two main characters in the show, Sam and Dean, die. A LOT, and when I say a lot I mean A WHOLE FRIGGING LOT! They have died so many times that I have to keep a death count! Sam has died a total of four times, and Dean has died a total of six times if I'm keeping track properly. That's just on screen. It's pointed out by one of the angels that they've saved them both from death LOADS of times. I even found this nice little infograph for it that you may want to check out. It misses one of Dean's deaths though as one of commenters pointed out.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that death should really be an emotional thing. Especially in a story. Moreso when it's one of the main characters that's doing the dying. This however, is not the case with supernatural. Why you ask? Because they die so many frigging times that whenever it happens the viewers are just like "Oh yeah, they'll definitely come back.". There's no question about it anymore. In fact, one of them comes back from death even after death himself tells him "STOP COMING BACK FROM THE DEAD JERK!". I mean honestly, the characters are starting to become a little suish after all this resurrection!

Same old same old

Supernatural has sort of fallen back onto a usual pattern in that all the "bad guys" are essentially the same. Sure there's the big bad that's introduced with every season. But every episode that doesn't include the brand new big bad just seems like a lot of filler content. Which isn't to say that the episodes aren't great. They're awesome! If you're just starting out watching the show. If you're a long time watching fan, you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

Each of these "filler" episodes appears to follow a specific formula in which Sam and Dean encounter a creature that they've already encountered before and then they kill it using the proper ritual, attack, whatever. The problem being that no respectable writer should be using formulas as

1) It's REALLY lazy.

and

2) It's really boring to watch

So I propose that supernatural includes some new monsters. I recall some ways back that Bobby was talking with another hunter on the phone about the Loch Ness monster being real. Tell me why that wouldn't make a good plot line! I myself LOVE the loch ness monster. It's one of those really cool cryptids that everybody knows about. While we're talking about crypids, what about big foot? It'd be kind of cool if he turned out to be some kind of obscure demon. That too would make a cool plotline. Going off of cryptids I'm sure that you could use some more urban legend type things. Bloody Mary and the Hook Handed Man have already been done. What about some more recent ones like PenPal for example? That one would be AMAZING! Of course that's just my opinion. I'm sure there's plenty of other things out there that the writers could use.

Failure to make something "bigger"

When season five ended, it left a pretty big hole in it's wake. What could possibly happen next? Lucifer just got defeated. What could possibly be bigger than Lucifer? Apparently an angel conspiracy. Which sounds good on paper. Unfortunately in reality it wasn't all that good.

Sam came back... yet again. This time without his soul. That was really the only interesting thing in the entire thing. I mean yeah, Castiel did become god at the end of the season. But then he died releasing the leviathans. Now that would have been a really nice ending. To the NEXT season. Here's what I'm thinking. Castiel could have been the next big thing. He had become god. The only thing bigger than Lucifer is god, so naturally a corrupt one would be pretty awesome. Unfortunately evil Castiel died before anything really interesting could happen with him.

So what could the next big thing be? To be perfectly honest I have no idea what would fit in with the plot as I haven't watched the entirety of season 9 yet. But without looking at it, I'd say a search for god would make for a pretty good plot. Yeah they did look for god once before. But then all they had was a necklace that can detect his presence. What I'm thinking is that Sam and Dean could search for a map in order to find god. The map could be split up into different pieces and they'd have to find them all.

But what reason could they have for this? To close the gates of hell of course! Yeah, they tried to do that previously. But of course they couldn't do it because it would have killed Sam. Which is a pretty big deal. Y'know considering that he probably would have just come back once again. So this would be a nice way to close the gates of hell and deliver on the series' promise. Most of you probably don't know what I mean by that though.

Whenever a series start off it starts off with a plot, a villain, and a promise. The plot is obviously the story. The villain is the person that antagonizes the protagonist. The promise of course is the important thing. It is the thing that can either make or break a series. It is what the fans expect to happen once the series ends. Allow me to explain. When Supernatural started, Sam was taken from his home by Dean to help with the family business. He did not want to take part in it, but of course it was his moral responsibility. Thusly, the promise is that Sam will no longer have to be part of the family business and can live a nice happy normal life. Closing the gates of hell without killing Sam will deliver on that promise!

To summarize, Supernatural does have a few problems. There should be less deaths, it would be nice if a few new monsters could be introduced, and there definitely needs to be a bigger bad. But it's not like they can't be fixed. In fact, I think I've explained how most of these problems can be fixed. We just need to bring these problems to the attention of the writers, and I'm sure that they'll get solved!

If you like this, diamond it! It'd be AMAZING if it could make it on the popular reel.

If the mods do that, then I'm definitely quitting. There's been plenty of other non minecraft content in the blog section and I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to make one.
