Buttons is a really, really odd character.

By that I mean that, unlike most of the other characters so far, not much has been established about her, aside from maybe her personality and how she was lifeless when Kai found her originally.

And that second point, about her being essentially dead when Kai finds her, is what I'm going to talk about today.

So we know that Kai most likely is the newest out of all of the dolls thus far shown.

• Buttons was dead when Kai found her, meaning that she must have been made and brought to life before him.
• Splitter was brought to life with the magic needle (See attachment below), meaning that he must have been made before Kai, since Kai steals the needle during his escape.




Another thing; Logically, why would Splitter, a doll made to kill/destroy other dolls, have been made first? Penny probably wouldn't anticipate needing to track down dolls escaping, therefore why would she make him?

This could lead to one conclusion: Buttons was made first.

Why is this important, exactly?

Considering that Buttons is found after Kai escapes, it would be safe to conclude that she tried to escape as well.

If we assume that she was made first, it's possible that Splitter was made after she escaped to track her down and destroy her.

This would imply that the reason Buttons was lifeless upon Kai finding her is..
