Anti-update freaks are not uncommon, I'm talking about those people who think that minecraft beta was the best thing ever and that Jeb ruined minecraft.

These people: (exaggerated for effect)

"minecraft beta was the best, jeb is a freaking idiot! minecraft beta and alpha was so much better than the full version, the hunger bar sucks! The XP bar sucks! we should have not added sprinting. I remember the old days in minecraft, minecraft sucks now! anybody who disagrees with me is a freaking moron! the olden days were way better, screw the hunger bar!"

These types of people really annoy me. I used to play minecraft beta a while ago, and I enjoyed it, later I quit minecraft and came back later. Minecraft had changed a lot when I was gone. However, I liked most of the new things added to minecraft as I eventually got used to it. Sometimes, you just have to deal with change.

Dealing with Change

Some things I didn't like too much was the fact that caves are too big, iron is too common, the terrain generator was not as good as in beta, ect. The thing that bugged me most was the terrain, though some mods fixed that for me. And I sort of got used to the new change. I don't think I would ever switch back to minecraft beta. Things are going to change, sometimes change is for the better. Things are never going to remain the way they are, people have to get used to change.

People claim minecraft was more simple in beta and alpha and there were less blocks and all. The thing is, people will get bored of minecraft if it remains the same all the time. Minecraft has had more things EXPANDED on to the game. Mojang isn't over-complexing it, they are expanding it. More content in the game adds more excitement and new possibilities.

Is mojang adding things for the sake of it sometimes? I do also sometimes feel that way, I mean many recent things in minecraft that were added just seem to be added for the sake of it. But it could be seen that they are adding more content, but Mojang should actually focus more on improving minecraft and all instead of throwing in new blocks every update.

Is it change that people hate, or are they getting bored?

After playing a game for a while, sometimes you just may get bored of it. It wasn't the case for me when I used to play beta because I had quit minecraft for a while. In fact, I haven't played minecraft survival in the longest time, just minigames every now and them. I guess I sort of quit now, and survival is seeming to be more fun to me now since I am starting it again.

I think it's just the fact that people are getting bored of minecraft. To anybody who feels this way, I suggest you take a chill from minecraft for a while. Maybe you can try adding some mods when you come back to expand gameplay.

Another explanation for anti-update people is likely the memories they had in minecraft beta. Yeah, it's normal to find joy in old memories BUT, don't go thinking that old things are better and everything new sucks.

Has the minecraft community fallen over the years?

One thing I am going to have to agree with was that minecraft alpha and beta had a better, more mature community. The quality of servers was better also, not just an ocean of the same ol' faction servers all the time.

However, I don't think minecraft itself has really changed for the worse. Alpha and Beta were not the full version for a reason, more content has been added to expand gameplay. Minecraft may not be the same as it used to be, but you just have to adapt to change.

Is it me, or am I the only one who appreciated new updates until now?

The game was made with creativity in mind, and the core concept has not changed.

I totally agree with this. I got banned for a week for flaming at people that are like "screw the hunger bar!"
