Hello everyone!

In the last few weeks, I have received a number of messages and comments asking about my approach to building basic survival homes in Minecraft. I figured what better way for me to explain it than to demonstrate it.

When I spawn into a fresh survival map for the first time, I spend the first few minutes building a home in one of the following three scenarios:

1. Above ground
2. Below ground
3. Cliff face interior

Regardless of the option chosen, I build in a simple and compact way. I build just enough of an environment for me to quickly move from chest to crafting table to furnace to chest to bed. This minimizes the amount of resources I need to work from and gets me settled in for that first night (especially safe if I don't have a bed at the time).

In the following video I demonstrate some basic build designs in each of the three scenarios above. Hopefully, it will give you insight into another way of thinking and building in a newly created survival map.
