Cyber Bullying+Bullying/Teasing

Recently I have seen a big increase of cyber-bullying and I wanted to make a blog on it.
So here it is.

What is Bullying/Teasing?

Bullying is a form of aggressive behavior manifested by the use of force or coercion to affect others, particularly when the behavior is habitual and involves an imbalance of power. It can include verbal harassment, physical assault or coercion and may be directed repeatedly towards particular victims, perhaps on grounds of race, religion, gender, sexuality, or ability. The "imbalance of power" may be social power and/or physical power. The victim of bullying is sometimes referred to as a "target".

The latest research shows that one in three children are directly involved in bullying as a perpetrator, victim, or both. And many of those who are not directly involved witness others being bullied on a regular basis. No child is immuneo kids of every race, gender, grade and socio-economic sector are impacted.

What is Cyber Bullying?

Cyberbullying is the use of the Internet and related technologies to harm other people, in a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner. As it has become more common in society, particularly among young people, legislation and awareness campaigns have arisen to combat it.

Cyberbullying" is when a child, preteen or teen is tormented, threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or otherwise targeted by another child, preteen or teen using the Internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones. It has to have a minor on both sides, or at least have been instigated by a minor against another minor. Once adults become involved, it is plain and simple cyber-harassment or cyberstalking. Adult cyber-harassment or cyberstalking is NEVER called cyberbullying.

How Can you prevent being bullied?

How can you stop cyberbullying it once it starts?
Because their motives differ, the solutions and responses to each type of cyberbullying incident has to differ too. Unfortunately, there is no "one size fits all" when cyberbullying is concerned. Only two of the types of cyberbullies have something in common with the traditional schoolyard bully. Experts who understand schoolyard bullying often misunderstand cyberbullying, thinking it is just another method of bullying. But the motives and the nature of cybercommunications, as well as the demographic and profile of a cyberbully differ from their offline counterpart.

How Can you prevent being bullied?Tips.
These may not work but might help.
1. Stop. Walk away. Do not participate if a friend or group of friends are bullying another student. When youo re feeling angry and mean, think about what youo re doing and stop. Take a deep breath, and count to three.
2.Be a friend. Offer yourself as a friend to a student who is being bullied with a smile or kind word. Everybody is special and unique. Find out what makes the student being bullied special.
3.Be brave. If you are very brave, and feel safe, you can tell the bully to stop. You have that right.
4.Ask for help. Go to a trusted adult if you see another student being bullied.
