Experiment 001: Breach

The C4 charge on the door detonated,
clearing the entrance. Five heavily armed men rushed into the room.
One of the soldiers nodded, signaling his squad to proceed. The room
was in bad shape, with deep gashes across the walls. A few dark red
blood stains covered the floor. The new recruit nervously gripped the
stock of his M16 as they took a few more steps forward. Because the
power had been out for years, they had to rely on flashlights mounted
on their weapons. The leader of the group, Sgt. Solaire, lowered his
rifle. “All clear,” he said in a gruff voice.

As the soldiers lowered their weapons,
they didn't notice the creature watching them from a fracture in the
ceiling. Experiment 001 held onto broken concrete to hold itself in
place, observing the strange humans. In all his years here, he had
never once encountered humans. Well... not since Gutenberg and
Wilhelm. A freakish smile parted 001's lips. He hadn't tasted the
delicious flavor of human flesh in decades. Knowing that he would
have the chance to feed soon, the beast retreated into the shadows –
waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Vasquez and Johnson had set up their
base of operations. Their radio, tents, and other miscellaneous
supplies were established in the corner of the front room. Pvt. Smith
couldn't bring himself to remove his hand from the holster of his
Beretta. “Guys, aren't you even remotely worried? I mean, we all
heard that tape. We know that thing could be here...” he muttered.
Solaire shook his head, “I don't believe in the Boogeyman, kid. And
I sure as hell don't believe in some genetic mutation that lives in
an abandoned military lab.” Smith sighed and sat down on a chunk of
concrete. “Well, I guess we'll find out soon enough.”

Night fell and the room became dark.
The floodlights Vasquez had brought were activated, filling the room
with artificial brightness. 001 growled quietly at this. The light
could ruin everything. It seemed that he would have to remedy the
situation by bringing the darkness to them. He positioned himself in
a hole above the lamps, and nudged a large brick over the edge. It
crashed into one light, shattering the bulb. All five of the Seals
jumped and grabbed their weapons, aiming at the ceiling. “Good...”
001 thought, “they are afraid...” He raked his claws against the
stone, and a screeching sound was produced. Smith began panting
rapidly, afraid of what might happen.

There was nothing but silence, and
then the sound of flesh being ripped open. Johnson screamed in agony
as the monster behind him tore a chunk of tissue from his own back.
The other soldiers turned and opened fire on the creature. Bullets
were caught in the beast's skin, but it continued mutilating the
soldier. 001 broke Johnson's neck and carried his corpse back into
the series of holes in the ceiling. Solaire cursed under his rapid
breath, taking cover behind a column of stone. His men did the same,
hastily reloading their rifles. The rookie was shaking, and just
muttered, “We're dead...”

While hiding up in the inner workings
of the laboratory, 001 shed the bullets that had hit him. They
clattered to the floor and rolled away. The corpse of his prey was
slumped against the wall, bleeding immensely. The creature smiled
again. “I'll be back to finish
you...”, 001 growled as it licked the fresh blood from it's
elongated fingers. With that, he dove back through the opening and
into the room.

More like a horror thriller than a suspenseful creepy pasta, unless thats what you were going for.

I think it would be scarier if we never saw anything from the creatures point of view, but that's just my opinion.

Very cool. A bit short (like the last one) but well written. I'll definitely check out the next installment of this story.
