Minecraft players build ridiculous and elaborate structures all the time. But it’s rare to come across aMinecraft creation that feels lush, convincing, alive.

Deep Sea, a an underwater world built over the course of six days, is an exception. Looking at this cinematic uploaded by BlockWorksYT, Deep Sea is on the level of something like Avatar. And it was built by only nine people. Behold:

There is somewhat of a story to accompany this build, too:
As Steve descended into the ocean depths, he found himself surrounded by an array of alien colours and shapes. There were creatures he never could have imaged, suited more to the realm of other space than that of the ocean.

Then, as he finally reached the sea bed, he discovered a vast complex nestled amongst the coral reefs. Enormous machines and contraptions appeared to be studying a variety of alien objects seemingly of their own accord while iridescent lifeforms swam around the strange rocks emitting a radiant glow.

The facility had been build around these forms, studying them in the hope of harnessing their power.

Who were the ones that built it and where had they gone…?

“The concept behind this project was exploring the parallels of Deep Space and Deep Sea,” the creators explain on Planet Minecraft. “Although Space is considered as mankind’s final frontier, even today much of the deep ocean is a mystery to us and host to creatures just as alien as those we might imagine on other planets.”

You can take a closer look at the build in the following screenshots, or you can download it and explore it yourself here.
