Hey guys! Eli is back with a blog for you to read, even if you just want to stare at the memes. Now, I've been holding off this blog for a while now, probably because I didn't have writer's block when thinking of this. Now it's here, and perfect with timing too. 2017 so far has been a year of rapid tech-growth, especially when it has been exposed and mass-produced to the public. More professional quad-copters (AKA, "drones") are in stores, and you know Wall-E? Well, you can finally get one of those robots! Heck, even my dreams of flying cars and self-driving cars are becoming real!
We may be possibly living in the future, but is the future too much to ask for? Have we gone too far in producing tech in which resulting in a greater evil? Well, to answer this, we have to look at the history of technology, while also running into hilarious memes and answering why the future might be scarier than imagined.
Now, we didn't just think of the future back in the 80s and/or 90s. People had plenty to say about the future back in the 1940s. It's quite absurd on how they thought of it. They actually thought of "computers" as freakishly large music-mixers with a typewriter attached to it, and to be honest with you, it's quite hilarious. Ha! And to think it was hard lugging around a 5lb laptop, try carrying one of these things to work! It's quite impossible indeed.
Besides that, they thought of the future as one from the Jetsons would be. Lots of flying cars that are literally the size of clown cars. Heck, to be honest with you, a prototype of one of those is coming. You want proof? Look it up. The last thing I want to bring up about this past view of this "dystopian" future is this weird old phone here. I mean, by gosh. It looks more like a big walkie-talkie dial phone than today's portable iPhones.
Now we get to the 80s/90s view of this. Our technology has grown faster since the 1940s to these decades, but we still wanted more. Thus, we kept making more stuff and made more predictions. Now, sometime around this period, Back to the Future 2 came out, and people started to wait for the illusive day of "October 21st 2015", in which it actually turned out to be another generic year for us 2k-ers. More ridiculous ideas came along, thus also spawning things like hoverboards and automatic pizza makers. Dang, I wish that were the case for Pizza Hut, but nope. It just wouldn't happen...
Thus we get to where we are today. In a crazy sense, we are living in the future! A lot of those ridiculous ideas from the past did become a reality! Heck, even button-less phones are more affordable, and most of us actually have one or two of those. People of the past would have their minds blown if they saw one of those things sitting in your pocket! With this praise of tech, why is it so bad to produce more of it? Why on earth is it terrible to make phone activated ovens!? As cool as it might sound, it actually makes you more susceptible to those nasty hackers trying to get you.
You see, hackers use this technique called pivoting, in which anything not phone related can still get into your phone. For example, let's say you have protected your computer and iPhone and you're sure that nothing can get in. The next day, you buy one of those fancy phone connected refrigerators because it's cool to use. So you eventually get it hooked up, and without warning, a hacker gets into your phone, even though it is secure! Why is this the case!? Well, it's like connecting your iPhone to your computer. Once it's connected, it becomes a part of your phone. It's also like the flu, once you get it, it spreads when in contact. So after you get the refrigerator connected to your iPhone and eventually plug it into the computer, that also gets the nasty bug too.
The scariest thing of all are those phone connected security systems. Sure, you may be secure from robberies, but a hacker can control it, and your home becomes a ticking time bomb. It's dark, scary, and it could happen at any moment. Make too much of these, and we could become even more vulnerable. As long as we can find a way to get rid of these nasty hackers, we would be golden. But for now, make sure to stay safe, and I hope this blog didn't scare you that much.
Before I go, I actually want you to watch these three videos if you had zero idea on what you just read, or the fact that you just looked at the memes. You don't have to, but it would be cool. These three are videos of the two part series (and a half) on Game Theory's analysis on Watch Dogs. They're funny and informative, and it would be a nice break from whatever you're doing right now. By the way, I'm not trying to promote his channel, nor do I want your cash. I care for your safety, and I love all my viewers, subscribers or not. I want you guys to be prepared for the real world, and not only that, prepare your life even more for what's to come. Here they are, and for now after you watch these, you can look at puppy/cat gifs and I'll see you in the next blog! Bye!
Here they are! Puppies (And Cats)!!

Excuse me while I huddle in a corner while I think about my life decisions because I wasted my summer...
Me too, but that's me every time the clock says 3am, where I ponder the meaning of life and think about my life decisions. :P
