This is a tricky subject since many server owners get griefed by opping the wrong people.
So many people beg to be staff that it's hard to find the ones that are actually care.
Don't bother searching for staff, let them come to you.
Once your server starts out, about 1/3 people will ask you to be op and it's your job to pick out the good ones.
Step 1:
They must care about your server.
But how do you find that out?
I used to do this on my server before the last one I owned.
I simply opped a random guy and said I had to go.
I would ask him to edit spawn and make it look a bit nicer then I would leave.
After this, I would watch the console and see what he does.
(Keep in mind I had backups of all server files so if he did grief it wouldn't matter to me).
Watch him for a few minutes then the test is complete.
Step 2:
It is also important to remember most people who ask to be staff just like the idea of being staff.
No use having a staff member that never helps, or is never on.
But anyway just keep him as trial mod/admin for a few days or so then you can see if the person you opped
was who you were looking for.
After that you should have a staff member you know you can trust.
Just remember to only make him Admin or Moderator after you are sure the person you opped is
the who you were looking for.
Otherwise it is awkward deopping them!
