Hello dear readers, welcome to the first Glaciem blog. We want to use this blog to point out both our ideology and an overview of our server concept.

Ideology

The Glaciem ideology consists of several core aspects: providing a funny and friendly community, respecting each other, and creating content to contribute to the world of Minecraft architecture. Besides that, there are two main points discussed in the following: making money with Minecraft and the omnipresent question for the perfect style.

Nowadays, Minecraft is often used to make money. As you may know, there are two main possibilities to make money: either you create a minigames server and earn money through a donation system or, as a builder, you do commissions and earn money for building spawns, hubs, minigame lots etc.

Glaciem is not a fan of earning money in a game, thus we have no donation system nor do we take commissions. This may seem a little bit odd, but we saw several examples of communities which were destroyed by struggling to obtain money, this fortified our opinion even more on money. We do not condemn anyone who does commissions (we house at least two of them) but it is just not an option for us as a team.

Another point in building is of course the style. There is the prevalent assumption that some styles are better than others and that builders building the “best” styles are automatically great people. Well … that is completely wrong. As some of our own experiences had shown, people become highly arrogant when they are hyped too much. They can’t handle their own popularity, they account themselves as superior builders all because they got too much attention for their builds. The actual annoying part of this is that these people are often unable to have a conversation because they are completely unable to accept any sort of criticism or any other opinion.

That is enough opinions for today, I’m not sure if anyone will read this bunch of text, but if you do, feel free to leave a comment with your own opinions.

Server Concept

The Glaciem concept is the backbone of all our activities. Glaciem itself has existed since late 2013 and has had several stages before the actual concept, which is marked by a vivid and active team, a competent administration and a great community with members from all over the world.

Glaciem has existed since December 2013. It was established for the former teams of Fire-Flare and then Syolia. After the disbanding of both, which was caused by several problems reaching from inactivity to administrative incompetence, a former member Sabrina decided to make a server better and founded Glaciem together with Micheal, another former member.

Today, Glaciem has formed into a worldwide community housing many talented people from nearly everywhere. Currently, it is led by 3 people: Sabrina, Mitch and Steve, who all have special scopes, reaching from building management to community management. They have assistants, called Adepts, to assist them in their administrative work, the adepts are, Florian, Håkon and John. These six people are the base of Glaciem and keep everything running fluidly.

But yeah … a build team is nothing without its members, even if it is planned and led well. So Glaciem of course has many members who come from, as said above, from all over the world.

Both the admins and the team are working together on several projects, the two most important are the world of Esradon, which is a continent containing several countries, currently two have been made, the Empire of Castaire and it's neighbour, the Kingdom of Cantoras. The other project is the modern/post-modern/futuristic world of Averton. Esradon consists of several smaller construction sites, the biggest one is the capital of Castaire, Lucrécy, which has been built by the most of our team members in the style of baroque, classicism and historism. There are also some smaller villages in different styles which are free to explore. Our aim in Esradon is to create an atmospheric environment of the late 18th century with a favor of magic and fantasy, where, when finished, a roleplay-system is planned. Averton is another of our worlds, led by the Adept Florian, where everything since the beginning of the 20th century can be built. Currently, the world itself is under construction, meaning the terraforming for the city and its surrounding is being made. Furthermore, there are areas of commerce and living planned as well as a harbour and some industrial areas beyond the cities borders.

So yeah, that's it ... at least I hope so. If you have any questions or are interested in Glaciem, feel free to leave a comment and ask whatever you want to ask. A last note for all the small kiddies out there: don't dare to complain about too much text or anything related; this is a blog, those things were conceived to consist of text. And no, I'm not going to add any pictures to create a storybook.

Thanks for reading, and have a nice day!

~Steve
