Hello everyone. Today I will discuss a topic familiar to many people... Griefing.

What is Griefing?
Griefing is chaning (destroying, ruining, altering) anyone's build or structure without asking. This is a pretty simple definition, though many people take griefing to extremes.

Where does it happen?
Griefing can happen anywhere... in a safezone, a faction, in towns, and even in minigames. The griefer (person that does the grieifing), does not care what they are doing and why, which is what I ask them.

Why do you grief?
As previously stated, most people don't have a reason to grief. They do it to troll people, and sometimes take it too far. I want them to reflect on what they do. What do you get out of it? An occasional grief for fun might be OK once or twice, but pestering the same person AGAIN and AGAIN? That's when its taking it to far. Ruining people's hard work? Unacceptable. I'm not telling you to stop griefing if you do, I simply ask you:
The next time your about to grief, think about what your doing and what the consequences will be.
Also, put yourself in that player's shoes. Would YOU like being griefed after building your house for a week? Or maybe some destroys a build you worked on for over 3 months? It anger's you doesn't it? Well, doing the same to other people isn't right.

What to do if someone griefs.
This post was meant for griefers, but I want to give you a short guide on what you should do if you catch someone griefing.
1)The most common thing to do is inform any staff member.
2)Try to stop the griefer, kill them.
3)Get in their way, don't let them succeed.
4)Troll them if you can. (Annoy so they log off)
5)If you have any sort of power: BAN THEM.

That guide might not be from an expert's point of view, but its a couple of key points that could help you in a grief. Griefers will always be there, hiding and waiting to strike at the right moment. If your new to a server, always make sure to trust the right people. Many people will ask you for help, and being the kind person you are, you would help them. Always make sure to stay sharp and keep those greifers away. To all of you griefers, change your ways. Stop causing grief. Do the community a favor.

My question to everyone: What is your opinion on griefers? Tell me in the comments below.

Anyways, I think griefing is obsolete anymore. They have great plugins that make griefing impossible. So why people still get griefed? who knows....

I see only one problem with your post. It is a very common mistake to say "Most people do this" or "People do this because...." The problem being, if you have never polled a large group of griefers, then how do you really know their reasoning? I can tell you sometimes I grief because I'm mad at the person, or sometimes because It makes me feel like a troll. What I want to see is a poll that is large enough to represent the Griefers as a whole. A poll which over a thousand griefers took part in answering.

I posted a blog about this exact topic, that was a while ago. I deleted it though.
