Hello PMC-ers, Wereyoi here, and I would like to talk about a pretty awesome strict role play server called Heroes of Galderon. Now I'm sure you have probably seen it before and I would like to say. It has been down for over a year. Now over the process of that year I always did a check up on it to see if it was ever going to come back up. And pretty much each time I was greeted with nothing. Though as of late it has been put back on the go for development. Though there is a couple of things I want to clear out of the way.

Publicity

Now don't get me wrong, I love a lot of people with different personality characters to role play with. Though what I don't like are the people who really suck at role playing and try nothing to fix it. Trust me, I am a since-the-start HoG player and I've seen some bad role players who have this kind of sovereign aura about their character. And the reason for that is, they think that they're the most important person on the whole server. Now, some of you might argue that the server is white listed and the application team will filter out the good and the bad. But if the app team really did filter out the good and the bad, there would not be a lot of players now would there?

Generic Character Creation

This problem has been happening from the start of the whole server, generic or stupid character creation. Now lets start with what generic and stupid characters are. Generic characters are the ones who are orphans and get either adopted or go out on their own, then hone some fighting skill till their the best at it, then something bad happens. They beat it with some difficulty and they then take a ship to Galderon. Now a stupid character are extremely...well....dumb. We actually had someone make a medieval Hitler and Holocaust in an application. I won't post it due to the extreme offensiveness of it. These two are prime examples of what you SHOULDN'T do. If you are thinking about applying to HoG (part of the minevine) make someone who is actually interesting like my character Guardian Dragon Lord Drake Xavier, now that might not sound interesting but it is his background that IS INTERESTING. He comes from the floating islands off the West shore of Galderon named the West Dragon Islands. As heir to the throne of the islands his life gets turned upside down when a group of elven "purists" come and destroy the islands with the inhabitants and the dragons. Drake takes his dragon on a fight against the elves but gets hit by an arrow and is knocked from the saddle of his dragon. He falls down into a interloping amass of tunnels in the Earth and eventually finds his way to Galderon. Make applications like that! Except don't make up continents, there are several you can come from ( the West Dragon Islands might soon be an option) and if you read up on those continents, you can honestly make an amazing application.

New Sever Coding

Oh boy new server coding, right? No, wrong. In the old HoG there was little plug-ins that made the game so much like and old RPG dungeon crawler. But now you have all these fancy-dancy custom mobs and this huge attributes and skill system. It might sound cool, but if you played the beta, you would've learned it sucks. The whole attributes are these five skills that improve your use of specific weapons and magics. Cool right? Now wrong again. These throw the game of it's kilter making it extremely hard to pick a perk you might or might not need to help your character progress, then rather you level up and get a new skill, more damage, and more health. Now huge props to Ogedi, the owner of HoG because he COMPLETELY re-coded the Heroes plugin and made awesome new bosses and skills. But that also kind of threw the game off. In the original HoG, if you had power you were part of a political system or a well known and wealthy merchant. There was all these awesome things, like noble houses in the Human Kingdom each with its own amount of land and soldiers to it. Now if you have power, you are level 50 with your skills maxed out and all you do is mobs grind so you can actually live without dying against these new mobs. It completely takes any role play away with these new mobs when you are just trying to get from city to city without dying or chatting with another character on the road and you get jumped and both of you get knocked out. Literally nearly all you can do is barely make your way in the starting town, until you have killed enough of the goblins to reach level 20, and then you can actually start walking around the world with the slightest chance of survival.

THE END! Thank you all for reading and don't forget to post your two cents in the comment section below. Happy Adventuring!
